Biography

Barry Nakahara is the Director of Prevention Field Services at WorkSafeBC, where he leads the Occupational Hygiene and Construction Officer teams across the province. He holds a Master of Science in Occupational Hygiene from the University of British Columbia and maintains a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation.

Barry has worked in a wide range of Prevention roles at WorkSafeBC and brings extensive experience from his earlier work in occupational hygiene across diverse manufacturing and construction environments. Based in Kelowna and connected to teams province‑wide, he focuses on advancing data‑informed, risk‑based approaches, strengthening consistency and quality in prevention practices, and fostering positive, collaborative interactions that support employers and workers in building safe and healthy workplaces.
